Basic Accounting Homework Help?

I am so frustrated, I am taking college accounting and can't get past the debit and credit of each transaction.. I know the ADE and LCR approach but it doesn't help me when I try to journalize and ledger.. I keep trying to balance and it is not coming out right because I just can't grasp it. I am pretty intelligent but can't move on to all the statements and balance if I can't grasp this part. Anyone know of an easier way to understand debits and credits in accounting? mainly for my T-accounts, Gen Journal, and Gen Ledger.. thanks so much
