If a football has 7 black pentagons and white hexagons.(Read the extra detail)?

In the first case, it seems that you'd have to have 5 hexagons to surround each pentagon, but I don't get how this relates to forming the surface of the football, or extrapolating to the 12-pentagon case. Each interior angle of a pentagon is 108 degrees, and each IA of a hexagon is 120 degrees. How does it all fit together??
