Obsessive infatuation: Why does it happen and how to stop it?

I have a problem like that too..I only love women who don't love me. I think I obsess over different women because it keeps my mind occupied all the time so if I get bored..I just think of them (daydream about encounters I wish we would have) I have alot of anxiety..and to give that nervous energy something to do..I think about those women. I know exactly what your talking about with "if I save them you too will be healed" I think the same way about women..like it's my mission to save the damsel in distress..and doing so she gives herself to me body and soul, and my pain is just washed away by her intense love for me. But I know in reality..I would eventually get bored with her-and search for another damsel in distress. Could I ask a question?..If this man gave you the opportunity to have with him..would you take it?
